In this regard, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Prof. Zhang from (DRC) whom I believe is an ambassador on green economic development. He has continuously inspired me to go for green economic development in Nepal since we met. The issue of green development has become a global agenda to many countries to strengthen their focus on mass utilization of green and eco-friendly technologies for sustainable future. Every country, including their leaders and policy makers, are worried about the environment management and more serious on ensuring healthy environment for future generation. For this cause, Nepal cannot be aloof from such progressive agendas. Though, Nepal’s direct impact on Climate Change has been minimal, however, we require to plan for sustainable future for our upcoming generation. In this context, China made transformative progress in development endeavor for climate change and Nepal could learn from China how to support creating the societies for the healthy future. In this context, your visit will offer more inputs and open the new avenues for collaboration and cooperation on green economic development in Nepal-China relation.
After successful completion of political transition, Nepal has entered into a phase of development. However, development is gradual process which needs abundance resources, though, the expectation of public has inflated tremendously for which there is in need to reform on every sectors simultaneously. Being familiar with this fact, a group of like-minded scholars, experts, academicians and practitioners have come up with an institution: School of Natural Resources and Bio-environment (SoNRBE) in Nepal in 2008. SoNRBE has its focus on policy research on national economic development, social affairs, foreign affairs, resource management and culture and tourism. It has been working on aforementioned sectors through doable field-based research, pin-pointing the policy gaps, and exploring the ways to enumerate ideas linking with resources and technologies for the future as well in order to influence the policy makers and planners to realize bigger impacts in the country. SoNRBE calls for an international seminar annually based on our research and current national and international issues.”Quest for Nepalese Prosperity” is considered the topic of seminar for 2019.
Prof. Zhang has visited Botany Department of Tribhuvan University and Gulmi district of Nepal last year that has established a bridge to encompass the idea of mutual cooperation for greener future. SoNRBE is not just a research institution, it is also a platform in which national and international experts are connected and contributed for the nation building process. I don’t know whether you are allowed or not, but I am expecting you to join in this forum as an international expert and adviser of the institute in which you can create great impact though you are in distance.
Last but not the least, I am thankful towards Prof. Zhang for his sincerity, diligence and noble personality, who is, on top of all, a man with a beautiful heart. I would like to congratulate our esteemed International Research Team from China on their successful visit to Nepal. I wish you all to have a pleasant stay and looking forward for our more engaged cooperation. Live long our collaboration. Live long China-Nepal relationship.
Thank you.
